How online notarisation works in the UAE

Online notarisation replaces the in-person part of a notary appointment, the identity check and the witnessing of your signature, with a remote process. Instead of walking into an office, you verify your identity digitally and join a video call with a notary through the approved system. The document itself still has to be correctly drafted beforehand, and it still results in an officially notarised instrument once the notary is satisfied.

This is different from simply emailing a PDF back and forth. The system verifies who you are, records the notarial act, and produces a document that carries the same legal standing as one signed in an office, provided the act qualifies for the remote route. What we do and what the notary does

Here is who does what in an online notary appointment with us.

What we prepare:

• Drafting or checking your document so the wording is correct before you go anywhere near a verification step.
• Arranging a legal translation, through a translator registered with the Ministry of Justice, if your document needs to be in Arabic or bilingual.
• Checking whether your specific document qualifies for the online route, rather than assuming it does.
• Guiding you through the identity verification and appointment booking steps.

What the notary does:

• Verifies your identity against your UAE PASS or ID.
• Reviews your document during the video appointment.
• Witnesses your signature or takes your declaration remotely.
• Applies the official notarial record to the document.

Which documents can be done online

Some of the documents people commonly try to notarise online include affidavits, certain powers of attorney, and sworn declarations. Other acts, particularly some certified true copies and certain company documents, may still require an in-person appointment where the notary needs to physically compare an original.

Getting your notarised document afterwards

Once the online appointment is complete, you will normally receive a notarised digital document. Depending on what you need it for, there are a few next steps:

• Digital use: many banks, government departments and companies now accept a digital notarised document directly.
• A printed copy: if you need a physical stamped copy for a counterparty or an office that still wants paper, we can arrange this.
• Attestation: if the document is going to be used outside the UAE, notarisation online is usually only the first step. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille route; instead the document typically needs MOFAIC attestation and, in some cases, embassy legalisation. Using online notary from abroad

If you are outside the UAE and need a document notarised for use here, such as a power of attorney for a property sale or a court case, the online route can sometimes remove the need to fly in. The same identity verification requirements apply, and time zones and connection quality matter more when you are joining from overseas.
