Notary public fees in Dubai: what you pay and why
Notary public fees in Dubai are made up of a few separate charges, not one flat price: the notary’s own fee, a translation fee if your document is not in Arabic, an attestation fee if the document is going abroad, and our service fee for preparing the paperwork and booking the appointment. Which of these apply depends on the document and whether you use the Dubai Courts notary public or a licensed private notary.

- Under the federal schedule, a private notary may add a professional fee of up to 30 percent on top of the government fee.

- MOFAIC attestation, if you need it after notarisation, is AED 150 for a personal document and AED 2,000 for a commercial one.
- Translation into Arabic by a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice is charged separately from the notary fee.

Fees
The parts that make up your total cost
A notary public fee in Dubai is rarely a single number, because most documents pass through more than one step before they are ready to use.
The notary fee. This is what the notary public charges to execute or notarise the instrument itself: checking identity, reading the document, and applying the notary’s seal. This is the fee set out in the government schedules below.
The translation fee. Notarised instruments in Dubai are generally in Arabic. If your document is in English or another language, it needs translating by a legal translator registered with the Ministry of Justice before the notary can proceed, or the translation itself gets notarised alongside the original. The federal schedule prices notarising a translation included in the instrument at AED 50 per page. What the translator itself charges for the translation work is a separate cost.
The attestation fee. If the document is going to be used outside the UAE, or a foreign document is being used inside the UAE, it usually needs attestation by MOFAIC (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) after notarisation. MOFAIC’s own fee is AED 150 for a personal document and AED 2,000 for a commercial one. This is separate from, and additional to, the notary fee.
Our service fee. We prepare your document, check it against the notary’s requirements, book the appointment, and arrange the translation and attestation steps if you need them. This is a separate charge from the government fees above.

Notary public fees: the federal schedule
The fee schedule below comes from Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024, the federal Ministry of Justice schedule of fees for notarial acts. It has been in force since 16 March 2024. These are the amounts stated in the resolution’s own annexed table. Dubai Courts sets its own fees, and we confirm the current fee for your document when you book.

A common mix-up is quoting one of these two caps for both execution and notarisation. They are different figures for different acts: execution is capped at AED 15,000. Notarisation is capped at AED 30,000.
Under Article 2 of the same resolution, a private notary may charge these fees plus a professional fee capped at 30 percent of the prescribed amount, except for two narrow out-of-office categories. Private notary fees in Dubai are set separately, and we confirm the current fee when you book.

Private notary fees in Dubai
Private notary services in Dubai are regulated separately by Dubai Courts, under a private notary fee decision that took effect on 2 January 2026. We confirm the current private notary fee for your document when you book.
Under the federal schedule, a private notary’s professional fee, where it applies, is added on top of the government fee, it is not a separate open-ended charge. If a private notary quotes you a price, ask what part of it is the government fee and what part is the professional fee, so you can see how the two add up.

Cost by document type
The government fee for a document depends on what kind of instrument it is, not on a flat “notary fee” figure. Some common examples, using the federal schedule above:
- Power of attorney. AED 100 per party for execution or notarisation, before any private notary professional fee. See our page on power of attorney services in Dubai for the document type and what the agent can and cannot do under it.
- Affidavit. AED 300 to execute and notarise, a flat fee rather than a per-party one.
- Declaration. Priced under the same schedule as an affidavit or a signature authentication, depending on how it is drafted.
- Certified true copy. Not listed as a separate line item in the federal schedule. Ask us for the current fee when you book.

The e-notary system and its fees
The Ministry of Justice runs the E-Notary System for remote and electronic notarisation. It is a government system. Where it is available for your document type, the fees that apply are the same federal schedule above, since the E-Notary System is how some of those notarial acts are carried out, not a different pricing structure.
Extras: urgent service, home visits and out-of-hours appointments
Some situations cost more than the base fee: an urgent appointment booked at short notice, a notary attending a location outside the notary’s office, or an appointment outside normal working hours. The federal schedule prices two narrow categories of out-of-office attendance, for a person who is unable to attend in person for specific reasons approved by the department, at AED 200 and AED 100. Beyond that narrow federal category, home visit and urgent service charges in Dubai are set separately, and we confirm them with you before you book.
Do not assume an urgent or home visit fee before asking us. Ask what the surcharge is and why before you agree to it.

Attestation cost after notarisation
If your notarised document needs to be recognised outside the UAE, the usual next step is MOFAIC attestation. MOFAIC’s stated fee is AED 150 for a personal document and AED 2,000 for a commercial one. Depending on where the document is going, it may also need attestation by that country’s embassy in the UAE before or after the MOFAIC step, and each embassy sets its own fee.
The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. There is no apostille route for a document used in the UAE or issued from it, the route is attestation. For the full sequence, see our page on document attestation in Dubai.

Is translation charged separately from the notary fee?
Yes. Notarising a translation included in the instrument is priced at AED 50 per page under the federal schedule, and that is separate from the translator’s own charge for producing the translation.
